Backend Game Developer (Remote/Part Time + Equity)
Quest Labs is seeking a backend engineer to help us build the future of education. The ideal candidate is a master at connecting people and allowing them to collaborate in real-time, working seamlessly between architecting and deploying scalable web services. What’s more, they should have a passion for gaming, learning, and working in a startup environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop APIs to support our highly collaborative PC, console and XR services
- Architect scalable solutions that grow according to demand, touching player populations, inventories and persistent spaces
- Own and drive improvements to our platform and infrastructure
- Write documentation for the maintenance and upkeep of your systems
- Provide technical insight regarding multiplayer gameplay design
Requirements
- Familiarity with online gaming backend services such as PlayFab, Azure, or AWS
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4
- Ability to take initiative in solving problems, learn when necessary
- The common sense to use or modify existing code instead of writing redundant new systems
- A portfolio or links to multiplayer projects you have shipped
- CS degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to self-direct
- Ability to deploy projects to PC, VR, consoles, mobile, etc
